Never before in his life was Phillip so happy to feel his heartbeat. For a moment after she saved him, he lay on the ground, eyes closed as he felt the rhythm. This was real, he was really back in his own body. The sound soothed him, almost put him to sleep. As the Yaoguai, Phillip had not slept, or he couldn't remember if he had. For weeks he was tormented and chased, all while trying to reveal his true nature to the villagers.
Then along came the young woman who currently stood over him, as fearless as any knight he had ever seen. He remembered the fire, always burning... She had almost defeated him, and he was afraid he would die alone, a monster. In desperation he wrote her a message, 'Save me'. Those words were his last hope in ever finding Aurora again.
Noises around him caused his eyes to flutter open. Everything around him was clear. As the Yaoguai the world looked and felt so different; muted and painful. No beautiful smells, lovely sounds or delectable tastes. Only fire, only gray, only hopelessness. His skin crawled at the thought, and he rolled over onto his back, shielding his eyes from the light as he looked up at Belle.
Phillip could feel his ragged breath, and wondered how terrible he looked to this woman. First she saw him as a beast, now as what he assumed was a homeless looking beggar. Ideas ran through his mind on how to announce himself so that she realized he was not a threat anymore. Pushing himself up into a sitting position, he pondered his words carefully, still looking her straight in the eye.
" I don't know how I will ever repay you... my savior." He tried to sound as strong and royal as possible, but due to the state he was currently in, sounded completely the opposite. For once Phillip sounded and looked weak, tired and desperate. "Forgive me for not standing my lady, but I don't think my legs are working..." Sighing, he ran his fingers through his hair, a task that proved more difficult than he expected. His hair was in knots and when he pulled his hand back it was covered with soot and fairy dust. Lovely first impression.
